The best acne prevention treatment is not a medicine. Rather than trying to control acne, and buying acne solutions to clear it up, the best method is to practice acne prevention. For this the best method is a home regimen that keeps your skin clear and clean. This cleansing method of acne prevention does include some over the counter products, but ones that are commonly available and low cost.
The items needed for the prevention or control of acne are cleaners, moisturizer, and a gel or cream version of 2.5 percent benzyl peroxide. There are a number of excellent choices in skin cleaners that are gentle and don’t contain alcohol that will over dry the facial skin. Bath soap should not be used on a person’s face.
Natural Acne Treatments are growing in popularity Not everyone can use benzyl peroxide. Though the number is no more than three percent, some people are allergic to it and the reaction is a bad rash. Before using benzyl peroxide, a small part of the face should be tested for reaction to the peroxide.
Moisturizing each and every day, including day one of the acne prevention regimen, is crucial. It’s possible that it won’t seem like the moisturizer is needed but it should be used anyway.
Moisturizing is helpful for skin balance and will help fight the reddening or drying effects of benzyl peroxide. A moisturizer with a gentle acid such as alpha hydroxyl or lactic acid is excellent, although some people experience some sting with it. Should that happen it should be discontinued for two weeks and then tried again.
The strength of the benzyl peroxide solution is important. It is much easier to find 10 percent solutions rather than 2.5 percent, but no one should ever apply anything stronger than 2.5 percent to their acne. Anything stronger will irritate and redden the skin and probably make the acne worse. The strongest dose of over the counter benzyl peroxide medicine is 10 percent and manufacturers charge more for it.
The inducement is the label “maximum strength” which people often think means it fights acne prevention to a greater degree. It does not. Benzyl peroxide can be hard for your skin to cope with for the first couple of weeks, so the best method is generally for someone to apply it only once a day and then increase the frequency and dosage gradually.
